A Vancouver refugee advocate says tomorrow’s city-sponsored forum is a key step to getting citizens involved in the Syrian crisis.
Eyob Naizghi speaks for Mosaic, a non profit dedicated to immigrants and refugees.
He says it’s a chance for groups like his to figure out the next move – while connecting with people who want to help.
“So it is about sharing information. It’s also about putting our heads together to see if we can come up with a collective strategy going forward. And it’s also about informing people of what they can do, what is possible.”
“I believe this is only the starting point. I think we need to be prepared to provide the leadership cizizens, to organize and mobilize resources, and to support the citizens.”
Naizghi says he wants to see the federal government take in more refugees.
But he says it won’t work without support and help from regular people.
