It’s shaping up to be a multi-media showdown in Burnaby-Lougheed, with both a punk rocker and a TV anchor on the ballot.

The B.C. Green Party has nominated iconic B.C. punk band D.O.A. frontman Joe Keithly, who will now face off against former Global BC anchor Steve Darling for the BC Liberals and the NDP’s Katrina Chen in next spring’s provincial election.

In a statement announcing his candidacy, Keithly says he will fight to oppose the Kinder Morgan pipeline expansion and sees the Greens as the only party committed to that outcome.

It’s not first time the rocker, whose¬†stage name is “Joey Shithead,” has thrown his hat in the ring for the Greens.

He ran for the party in the 1996 and 2001 provincial elections, as well as in the Coquitlam-Burke Mountain byelection this year.
