Traffic and Road Closures

Celebrate the lighting of the summer skies over English Bay without getting stuck in traffic.

Getting There

Public Transit, cycling or walking are the best ways to enjoy the Honda Celebration of Light from the prime viewing areas! Prime viewing areas include English Bay, Kits Point, Vanier Park, and various locations around the West End, Sunset Beach and Stanley Park.

Public Transportation

Additional Skytrain, Canada Line, and Bus service will be put into place to help with the large volume of transit users on event nights.

Please visit Translink:  http://www.translink.ca/ to learn more about routes and schedules, as well as additional services on Fireworks nights.

Driving

If you plan to drive, leave plenty of time to find parking and get to a good viewing spot. Traffic will be redirected in the Kitsilano and West End areas and you will have to plan an alternate route.

If you can, try to carpool with friends and neighbours and be prepared to walk a distance from your parking spot!

Access into the West End will be restricted from 7:30PM, and into Kits Point from 6:00PM on Fireworks nights.  Residents will be allowed into the area at specific access points, but must display a valid resident parking permit or recent proof of address.

Please respect all parking notices to avoid having your vehicle towed as enforcement will be strict.  Please refer to the road closure map for access restrictions in the West End and Kits Point.

Use extra care when driving in the area and watch out for cyclists and pedestrians.

Motorists are NOT permitted to stop on any city bridge to view the fireworks, as it is a serious safety and traffic flow concern.

Biking

Bringing your bike to the Fireworks is a great idea, especially when you can lock it up safely at Sunset Beach in our Bike Valet.  Bike Valet will be operating from 6PM each night of the Fireworks in the Sunset Beach Festival Area.
